Māori art is in a vulnerable place as it enters the world of AI. How we protect it matters, not just for now, but for future generations. As someone of Māori descent, I understood the care needed to respect the tapu of this project. Working with Raymond Otene McKay (CCO at RUN Aotearoa), we created Korowai, a digital layer of protection to help shield Māori art from being mimicked by AI, both physically and spiritually.
